Fun With The Girls

We had a girl's night out at my house last weekend for Becky's birthday.  It was fun.  Lots of chocolate, talking, pedicures, and massages.

A Surprise

A month ago George was released from his calling as YM secretary.  His time in that calling was done and they wanted a new secretary to get trained before they called a whole new presidency.  The bishop told George that they were still trying to decide on a new calling for him and so he was left with no calling for about a month.  We were okay with that because it gave us more time together and more time to study.  After he was released though I had a distinct feeling that I needed to be prepared for what was coming and the thought came to me that George was going to be in the bishopric.  At that point, the idea was preposterous to me.  We had a fairly new bishopric (they had been in for right around two years) so I brushed the thought off as an insane thought. 

A week after George was released, it was announced in Sacrament Meeting that our dear bishop and his family were moving.  We are going to miss him a lot.  He did so much to help George and I through all of our miscarriages.  He was a huge blessing in our lives.  Their family will be sorely missed. 

Commence the panic.  Three weeks later we still had no new bishopric but figured it would be coming soon.  Friday came and I was starting to feel relieved cause I was sure the new bishopric had been called and we no longer had anything to worry about.  Wrong.

Friday night George received a phone call from one of the counselors in our stake presidency.  He wanted to see us both.  Saturday morning at 8:30 we were in his office and he asked George to accept the calling as 2nd counselor in our new bishopric.  The sweet man I am married to feels inadequate and is so worried about how he is going to do school, work, his calling, and find time for me but the Lord qualifies those He calls and I know that he will help George pull it all together and be able to balance his life.

I'm not sure why we received the impression a month ago.  I guess it was to prepare me for what was coming and to be prepared for how much George is going to be gone, especially on Sundays.  That was our time together during the week when we knew for sure we were going to be together.  I will miss spending that time with him on Sundays but know he will be doing his best to help those in our ward and help counsel with our bishop and lighten his load.  I'm going to miss sitting by him in church too (I think I'll miss that more than anything). 

I know that our new bishopric was called by Heavenly Father and they will do a great job.  I will do my best to support my husband and not complain too much. 

Post 2: Picture Update & George's Birthday

I've been meaning to post pictures of our anniversary, my mom's birthday, and now George's birthday so I thought I would do that today.

 We decided to just have a major shopping spree for our anniversary.  We bought new clothes, new bedding, new curtains and towels and we redecorated our room.  It was great.  That day we also celebrated my mom's birthday.

 George's birthday party was a blast.  We went to Pizza Pie Cafe for dinner and then went bowling at Fat Cats.  We'd like to thank everyone who joined us.  It was great and we had a ton of fun.

Two Posts Today - Post 1: National Infertility Awareness Week

National Infertility Awareness Week starts April 24 and goes through April 30.  Leading up to this week there have been discussions on blogs that I read about infertility myths.  It is a way for all those who have infertility issues to come together and recognize that there are other people out there going through the same thing.

Well, this year PETA (an animal organization) decided to hold a contest in honor of National Infertility Awareness Week.  They are offering a free vasectomy to a male who has his pet spayed or neutered.  Their continued response to those with infertility issues is that we should just adopt and stop increasing the population.  It is cruel and distasteful.  There is currently a petition.  This blog that I am linking you to explains it more and has a link to the petition.  Please join me in signing this petition to have all references to National Infertility Week taken off their promotion.
